Launch your applications quickly and easily using the keyboard only. This great free product from BuzzSoft enables you to create shortcuts that you can then use to launch applications without the need for a mouse. The whole package is extremely simple to set up and use, yet very effective. To create a shortcut simply launch SoftStart, type in your chosen keyword and press the Add button. You will then be prompted to browse for the .exe file for that application. Once this is located, click Open and your shortcut has been created. For example, if you wanted to create a shortcut for Microsoft Word, all you need do is open SoftStart, type in a simple shortcut (“word” for example) and then locate the .exe file for Word. Simple. Next time you want to use Word, just open SoftStart, type “word” and the program will be launched automatically. There is no limit to the number of shortcuts you can create, but obviously every chosen keyword must be unique. There is, unfortunately, no record kept of your chosen keywords, so be sure to use words you are likely to remember. You can still launch applications in the normal way through the Start Menu, but with this program there is absolutely no need - why wade through all those different folders and subfolders to locate a program when SoftStart is quicker and a great deal easier? SoftStart itself can be launched without the need For a mouse. Simply press the combination of Shift, Control and Spacebar on your keyboard, and SoftStart will open. The immediate advantage or using SoftStart is that it ensures applications are launched as quickly as possible, but allows for easier access to your applications at times when using a mouse may be tricky - when using a laptop with one of those finicky, useless pads for example! A very handy utility, which you will find yourself using more and more once you begin to notice the benefits.
