What is email merge?

| You create an email and merge
personalised data into each email (similar to mail merge in Microsoft Word).
Each email message can be addressed to the individual contact, e.g. “Dear
John” instead of “Dear Customer” and you can place personalised
data within the body of the email . |

| How do I use SoftBulkEmail? |
- Write/design your email message and include
the data fields you wish to merge and save it as a .txt or .html file.
N.B.
Data fields are defined within the Email message as follows: %*FIELD2*% - The
second field from each record in the CSV data file will be
inserted into every email.
- Compile the data you wish to merge and save
it as a CSV file.
- Set up a promotion by entering the file path
of the saved email message and the CSV file.
- Select the promotion you wish to
send.
- Click the Send button
 and your Emails are
on their way.

What is a CSV file?
|
| The CSV (Comma delimited) file
format saves only the text and values as they are displayed in cells of an
active spreadsheet. All rows and all characters in each cell are saved. Columns
of data are separated by commas, and each row of data ends in a carriage
return. If a cell contains a comma, the cell contents are enclosed in double
quotation marks. |

Can I send formatted HTML in my emails?
|
You can compose HTML emails using
your usual HTML editor, e.g. FrontPage, Netscape Composer. To get you started
in preparing HTML emails we recommend you use Netscape Composer (part of
Netscape). You don't have to know HTML to use Netscape Composer, it is as easy to use as a word processor. You can add images, colours, font styles, links to other pages, etc. To get Netscape please click on the link below:

Can I include website links in my
emails?
|
| Yes, just type in the full URL
including the http://. The recipient's email software will highlight and link
to the web address. To link to an email address, type
mailto:email@address.com. |
