SoftStart is a quick and easy way to launch applications from the keyboard without using a mouse. You create a keyboard shortcut which is easy to remember, e.g. to start your word processor you could use a shortcut of “wo” or anything else easy to remember. If you have several applications installed on your PC and find it a nuisance selecting the “Start” button, and then navigating the menus with a mouse, trackball, pointer, trackpad etc, then SoftStart will save you time and make life much easier. Very handy in those situations when a mouse is not very convenient - ever tried using one on a plane? If you just can’t get used to using your mouse, it’s a good way of cutting down on the amount you rely on it.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
It’s simplicity itself. Once launched, SoftStart expects the first thing you type will be a shortcut. It’s programmed to check after each character you type, so it’s constantly on the ball. To make a new shortcut you have to use the mouse, so you’ll need to set them all up in advance. You type in the shortcut you want to use, the more memorable the better. e.g, For your calculator, use “calc”. Locate and select your calculator and the shortcut is then set up. Next time you start up, SoftStart will be ready.
Everyone likes a good shortcut. Leave the mouse in the house and use SoftStart to launch apps instead.
